MethylHeri aims to reveal the role of DNA methylation as a key mechanism of heritability of chronic diseases. We will specifically study colorectal cancer (CRC) as chronic disease model that has a strong heritable component, but large missing heritability. A risk stratification model that combines multidimensional genetic, epigenetic and lifestyle data for personalized CRC prevention will be developed and the potential role in other diseases explored.
